Larew's cantankerous poem, Ghosts (see below), was selected by the editors of Poets from County Clare and Far Beyond: An Anthology by Irish Poets and Their Friends from Around the World (EyePublishEwe Press, 2024). Resulting from work shared during an online pandemic trans-Atlantic gathering hosted by Irish poet and songwriter, Martin Vernon, the anthology was edited by Dane Ince. Ghosts
Nothing worries more than bliss.
Nothing grates like grins
or hurts like glee.
Nothing troubles more than joy
Or glows like flames.
Best take bad to bed.
Bend bitter over and kiss its lovely nape.
Invite wicked to visit whenever it can
and pray that rough
Never turns smooth.
Because whatever else Heaven is
it’s dull.
Who wants to hum like harps do anyway
Forever --
No nothing is worse than fine.
